What is the most important “job” in your life right now?
The entrepreneur hustle – growing my plant based frozen dessert company, teebsie
What is your key to feeling beautiful no matter how busy you are?
A nice steamy shower, a swoop of mascara, and if I am feeling particularly sassy, a nice bold lip. Preferably hot pink.
Is there a hidden talent you wish you had?
I wish I could make balloon animals. That would be such a fun party trick – “Hello, my name is Julia and I just made you a balloon giraffe!”
Do you have a go-to nail polish color?
The most neon of neon-y pinks!
Best drink to go with a mani?
Anything in a champagne flute
Manicures and Pedicures- same time or staggered?
Getting a manicure and a pedicure at the same time is pure bliss…
Matching nail and toe polish colors?
Yes! Being in the kitchen, I can’t have polish on my nails, which is slightly heartbreaking. When I go on vacation and don’t have to be in the kitchen, I get matching polish and it makes me feel so glam!
What is your ideal Saturday like?
Sleeping in, reading books and magazines from the gigantic pile next to my bed accompanied by a mug of one of my morning concoctions – right now it’s lemon juice, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and raw honey in hot water – followed by a hike in the Malibu mountains, an afternoon nap and then an evening spent cooking for my friends and family.
What is your go-to restaurant and/or bar in town?
Jon & Vinny’s or Night + Market Song for dinner, Joan’s on Third for lunch.
Favorite fad workout (if any)?
I don’t do any fad workouts. I try and go on walks around my neighborhood, around Lake Hollywood or hikes a couple of times a week. I love being in nature! There’s nothing quite like fresh air and leaves crunching beneath your feet.
What is the last book you read?
All of the Light you Cannot See. It was so beautifully written – heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
Favorite perfume?
I am a scent fanatic! Right now, my favorite scent isn’t actually a perfume – it’s Jiva Apoha’s Atman Oil. I use it before I go to bed (or whenever I get a massage at The Now) and it helps me fall into a deep, peaceful slumber. For actual perfumes, I love Artisan Perfumer’s La Chasse Aux Papillons, Diptyque’s Do Son and Le Labo’s The Noir 29.
Drugstore or department store beauty products?
Neither! I use a lot of natural products not available at either – I get some from of my beauty products from Whole Foods, some from Erewhon, some online and some from local brands. My current favorite is a beauty oil made by my friend Ana of AnaSol – she makes beautiful skin and hair oil blends and I just love her Palma Rosa oil. I use it on my face every morning!
Best way to stay youthful looking?
Laugh and smile, every day.
Who is your beauty crush?
Linda Rodin. What a dream!
Who is your WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday)?
Ruth Reichl – she’s been my WCW since I found out who she was! My Kitchen Year is my favorite book/cookbook and I absolutely adore her twitter handle.
What is your favorite type of pie?
No pie (unless it’s one of my pumpkin pie pops) – I’m more of a cake and ice cream girl.
Who has the best coffee in LA?
I don’t drink coffee, but I love the turmeric, ginger, macadamia milk concoction at Go Get ‘Em Tiger. I could drink it all day every day!
Camping or glamping?
Sleeping in a teepee is the best way to sleep when you’re in the outdoors! ☺
Mac or PC?
Mac mac mac!
Would you ever wear your nails pointy?
I wish! I’m so jelly of those pointy nailed ladies.
Buy a cake or make one?
Make it all the way! I didn’t go to pastry school for nothing. 😉 Unless it’s a cake from Coco Bakes. I would eat her brownies and cakes all day every day if I could. I dream about her brownies.
Do you have a nickname?
Teebs! That’s where the name for my company comes from.
