How To Make Your Mani Last Even Longer

September 30, 2021
At Bellacures, we employ professional techniques to ensure your manicure is perfectly applied and primed to last as long as possible. But we can’t do all the work! Once you leave our salon, there are a few things that you can do to ensure that your manicure lasts as long as possible (or at least until you’re ready for a new shade or cut)!

Follow our top ten tips to extend the life of your mani:

1. Dazzle with Dazzle Dry

At Bellacures, we offer Dazzle Dry’s original four-step nail system that guarantees your nails won’t chip for at least seven days. This innovative system dries in only a couple minutes and the results are flawless! Pamper yourself with a Dazzle Dry manicure and hold on to your color even longer.

2. Keep it short

Shorter (and rounded or oval shaped) nails are less likely to break or crack and tend to chip less than longer nails.

3. Mellow out

While a bright or vibrant color is fun and fashionable, muted and mellow colors like neutrals or light pinks have a less noticeable effect when chipped.

4. Wait it out

Wait for your nails to dry! We know this takes patience, but give yourself enough time to allow your nails to dry completely before leaving our salon.

5. Reapply, reapply, reapply!

A strong, clear top coat seals in the color and keeps it lasting longer. At home, you can reapply a top coat every 2-3 days.

6. Oil up

Dry skin around your nails can lead to chipping. Moisturize your fingers and cuticles with a nourishing cuticle oil every day. As a bonus, they add a lovely shine to your nails.

7. Protect

Protect your nails by wearing gloves when using harsh cleaning products or washing dishes.

8. Let them be!

Leave your nails alone. This may seem obvious, but don’t pick at (or bite) your nails or the skin around your nails.

9. Avoid heat

Resist the urge to submerge your nails in hot water when soaking in a hot bath or doing the dishes. Of course, feel free to continue to relax in the tub, just keep those nails out!

10. Hydrate

If you wash your hands often (which we’re all doing a lot these days), try to be diligent about applying hand cream after each wash. It’s also great idea to apply hand cream before bed when your hands won’t be doing a lot of movement. For extra credit, wear gloves and allow the cream to really soak in!

A good manicure helps you nail your look, levels up confidence and adds a little sparkle to your style. Don’t let a chip get in your way! These ten tips are sure to keep your nails healthy and strong and your polish looking beautifully fresh and salon-worthy—even a week after visiting us at the salon!
