At Bellacures, we believe in the Five C’s: Cleanliness, Comfort, Care, Consistency, and Communication. There is a reason that “Cleanliness” is number one. Naturally, for pandemic precautions, we’ve taken extra steps like wearing masks and rigorously sanitizing surfaces. But even before COVID, our first priority was a clean, safe environment for both our customers and employees.

Safe and clean mani-pedis require more time and attention than you might think. There are a host of invisible bacteria that we need to watch out for. Athlete’s foot is a very common ailment, especially if someone’s been in warm shoes all day. It’s not exactly a cute look: it’s uncomfortable, and it can spread to other parts of your body. Even worse are plantar warts. These are actually a viral infection, which often afflict people’s hands and feet. They’re harmless, but unless you have a very haunting Halloween costume in mind, you don’t want them. Finally, any good salon has to be incredibly careful to prevent any sort of bacterial infection. These can be very serious and can lead to drastic complications.

The good news is that all of these concerns can be avoided by maintaining a sparkling clean salon. Whenever you visit a nail salon, the first thing you should check out is the general cleanliness of surfaces and overall tidiness. If a place has a messy vibe, it’s a good indicator that the business may be overlooking the important details.

But sometimes things are more subtle than, say, a banana peel on the floor. For example, you will often see a manicurist’s tools soaked in blue disinfectant. This actually isn’t always as sanitary as it appears. This is because the solution needs to be replaced very often to maintain effectiveness… how many times have you witnessed that solution changed? Exactly. Additionally, while whirlpool pedicure chairs may look like a small bathtub, they’re deceptively unclean. These tubs can be breeding grounds for bacteria as, unlike a swimming pool filled with chlorine, there’s nothing antiseptic in the water. That’s why we opted not to offer these in our salons.

At Bellacures, we are laser focused on taking salon cleanliness to the next level. Every experience begins with our technicians opening a brand new, sterile pouch of tools just for you. These pouches include files, buffers, toe separators and everything else that might touch your feet or body. Once we’re done, these tools are yours to take home with you. We never use them on other clients. Our pedicure tubs aren’t like others, either. We use a disposable plastic liner which we change after every use. This makes it impossible for bacteria to form in between clients. Finally, all of our specialists use rubber gloves, and now, of course, wear masks.
